Writers and Translators in Barcelona

Barcelona Artists lists writers working in the city: poets, novelists, essayists and translators, each publishing their own selected texts and recorded readings. A recital fills a room for as long as the poet keeps reading; a novel holds until every page is finished, and both belong here as literature. Catalan and Spanish sit side by side on these pages. Poetry compresses a thought into as few words as it can bear, working through rhythm and line break rather than explanation. Fiction asks for the opposite: a world sustained across pages, built scene by scene until it holds together on its own terms. Essay argues a position and shows its working. Translation is its own craft again: a second original, built word by word, carrying a voice into a language it was never written in.

A text finished in one language still has to earn its shape in the other, line by line, until nothing about it reads as a translation.
