Textile Art and Garments from Barcelona

Fashion and textile art out of Barcelona and the rest of Catalonia: single garments, whole collections, hand woven and hand dyed cloth, process shots and pattern sheets. Each piece is uploaded by the person who made it, with their own caption and their own credits.

Catalonia made wool for more than a century in Sabadell and Terrassa, and a good deal of the technical training behind these pieces comes from that. Cloth now often starts as factory surplus, and the runs are short. Captions name it: stock wool, hand dyed linen, waxed cotton, machine knit lambswool.

Open a piece and you get what the maker chose to show: photographs of a coat on a stand, a scan of the pattern, a short film of the same coat moving, a paragraph about the cloth. Clothes read badly as a single still, so a lot of the work here carries video too, and some of it the technical drawing.

Everything reads without an account. Follow any piece back to its maker's page and the contact details on it, then write to them yourself about a garment, a length of cloth or a commission. The approach goes direct and off Barcelona Artists. Ask about fibre content and washing first, because on short runs of hand dyed cloth no two batches match.
