From drawing to model making to molding, ending with an original art piece on plaster. 1- Create your own sculpture in clay. (First class: 3 hours, Saturday 17 October, from 10 AM to 01 PM) 2- Learn how to make a mold from it. (Second class: 3 hours, Saturday 24 October, 3- Redraw the first original sample from your mold. René Jean Amba Born in Cameroon in 1992, René is a sculptor and painter whose practice is rooted in memory, material, and the living dialogue between humanity and nature. His artistic vocation emerged at the age of ten in Ngoro, a village in the Mbam-et-Kim Division of Cameroon’s Centre Region, where the rhythms of daily life and the quiet strength of his mother nurtured his earliest creative sensibilities. Recognizing his remarkable gift, his family encouraged his talent from an early age. In 2004, he entered the Institute of Artistic Training (IFA) in Mbalmayo, where he devoted himself to the study of sculpture. He graduated in 2011, specializing in sculptural practice, and became a member of the National Organization of Cameroonian Artists. Guided by an enduring desire to deepen his understanding of art, René continued his studies at the University of Yaoundé I, earning a Bachelor's degree in Visual Arts and Art History from the Department of Arts and Archaeology in 2014. Alongside his academic training, he established his own studio in 2011, a place of experimentation where tradition, craftsmanship, and personal reflection converge. Working across sculpture and painting, René transforms raw materials into forms that evoke memory, resilience, and the invisible ties between people, landscapes, and time. His work draws from the cultural richness of Cameroon while engaging in a broader conversation with the contemporary world. Encounters with new places, cultures, and artistic traditions have continually expanded his visual language, allowing his practice to evolve without losing sight of its origins. René has participated in numerous collective exhibitions in Cameroon and abroad.
